does not using air conditioner in your car really save on gas? if so, how significant is the savings?

Answer:
Not using the A/C and having the windows rolled up does save significantly on gasoline. Typically as much as 20%.

However, if you are compairing A/C vs having the windows rolled down. It's been show that the break even point is typically between 40 and 50mph. If you're driving speed is in an area where you're travelling less than 40mph, you'll save gas by rolling down your window.

If you're on the freeway and able to travel above 50mph, it's more efficient to use the A/C vs having your windows rolled down.

Most fuel efficient = No A/C and windows rolled up!
